No, with the help of this mod the AI have a genuine reason and purpose. The only thing I was let down by was the fact that Lufthansa livery is the only one that is being used, so there is a lack of variation in the planes. To be honest, though, I would rather that than what we have previously!

From the exterior, the first glance is great! The plane is modeled great and sounds seem decent. The windows aren't see through but eh, It doesnt make a difference because you will spend 99% of the time in the 'highly praised' 3D cockpit.. You then zoom in a bit, and realize the bottom of the plane is basically untextured and the textures up close are terrible.
Then, you shift+9 into the 3D cockpit and let me start out with the positives, the overhead panel is nice, and most buttons are funtional. But that doesn't make up for the awful textures, next to useless fmc and horrible frames. You would think a plane with textures that bad in the cockpit would at least have decent frames. It doesn't. So many stuff from the at least functional 2D panel don't show up in the 3D panel. Such as the screen behind the sidestick which would be so easy to read because the sidestick doesn't even move in 2D and 3D cockpit.
As standard with all Peters aircraft, the plane has no support for SIDS/STARs and no airway support also. You mise will load in a .fms file. I couldn't find a way to get the Wether radar to work, but that may be just me.
-The cockpit windows let you see straight through the aircraft. Whatever is below you, you can see just by looking through the windows! But in all honesty, How have they not seen this? Look, this is a FIVTY FIVE DOLLAR PRODUCT! I hope you realize your charging almost the same price of a jardesign/flightfactor etc.. Product. How is it possible something like this cannot be seen? and its never been fixed! The plane has been out for years now and not one (Yes 1) major update has come out. Do you even support your own aircraft? Heck! Do you even fly your own aircraft?
You all really do need to step it up. Your products really do have potential but for now, value for the money is awful. This plane (Along with A319, A320, A321..) Needs some MAJOR updates. Im not talking like 2 or 3 things added every couple months, Im talking a MAJOR overhaul. If your not going to update them with what they really need, please lower the price for now.
Excellent comments here! This is one of the reasons we have forums. Research is free and can save one a lot of money and tears. I've learned the hard way to stay away from aircraft that are totally maxed out graphically and max out my video card on my 2011 iMac. I have a few (PW) planes I can't even fly (10 or less FR) .
A380 from Peter is really a bad choice if this is your first payware aircraft in xplane.. none of us veteran x-planers will recommend that.. a good place to start is Flight factor 757 V2 or IXEG 737 if you want to know what all x-plane can offer... pls talk to forum members before the big purchases if you're new to x-plane.. for e.g xenviro is a 70$ weather addon but i did extensive survey before buying it and now i'm a happy customer..
The buttons below will download the X-Plane 8 updater and demo installer. If you already have X-Plane 8 installed, running this will upgrade that copy of X-Plane to the final version of X-Plane 8. If you do not have X-Plane 8 installed, it will download the final demo version of X-Plane 8.
The buttons below will download the DVD installer for X-Plane 8. Running this will allow you to install X-Plane 8 from your discs. If you are installing X-Plane 8 on a Linux machine, do not use the installer found on your DVDs. Instead, use the updated Linux Installer.
Hey Stephen, I agree that the 7x is a very good plane, but the XP10 update did not enhance the v9 version feature-wise. It just made sure that it now behaves correctly under v10. All the features you are mentioning ("Most of the upgrade work has centred on the displays and systems, and the central display is fully functional.") work also in the v9 version.
Thanks for an excellent comparison. I'm fairly new to X-Plane, but have already purchased several aircrafts. My limited experience so far has been that payware has outperformed the freeware aircrafts, besides the fact they usually look much better as well. All of the airplanes I find myself flying regularly are payware. Having said that, I don't want to discourage others from developing freeware aircrafts. They are still a joy to fly and perform very respectably, especially when not comparing them head to head with payware. And, payware models are limited, so freeware still provides me with the ability to try out aircrafts not yet produced as payware. I don't have an Airbus model of any type yet. I'm inclined to try the freeware first because at $59.95 for the payware, it's not the kind of plane I want to buy and not use.
The energy range above 60 keV is important for the study of many open problems in high energy astrophysics such as the role of Inverse Compton with respect to synchrotron or thermal processes in GRBs, non thermal mechanisms in SNR, the study of the high energy cut-offs in AGN spectra, and the detection of nuclear and annihilation lines. Recently the development of high energy Laue lenses with broad energy bandpasses from 60 to 600keV have been proposed for a Hard X ray focusing Telescope (HAXTEL) in order to study the X-ray continuum of celestial sources. The required focal plane detector should have high detection efficiency over the entire operative range, a spatial resolution of about 1mm, an energy resolution of a few keV at 500keV and a sensitivity to linear polarization. We describe a possible configuration of the focal plane detector based on several CdTe/CZT pixelated layers stacked together to achieve the required detection efficiency at high energy. 2ff7e9595c
